What we collect
When you check a ZIP code, that ZIP code is sent to our server so it can fetch the forecast from the National Weather Service. The server keeps a short-lived cache of forecast results per ZIP code (30 minutes) so repeat requests are fast. It does not record which visitor asked for which ZIP.
Your last ZIP code is remembered in your own browser's storage so the page can show your result next time. It never leaves your device except as part of the forecast request above.
When you load a page, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes the standard information any web request carries (your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time). Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We see this only as aggregate traffic figures.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address and browser details. If we add advertising in future, this policy will be updated and, where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent first.
Third parties
Forecast data comes from the National Weather Service (weather.gov); your ZIP code's coordinates, not your ZIP code or anything about you, are sent to it by our server.
